As a mentor, I am always attending various courses, presentations and generally keeping up to date with everything that involves young children and the educational setting. I attended a course the other day that has totally blown me away and really made me rethink the whole ethos of teaching.
Assertive Mentoring is a breath of fresh air and in my opinion what is needed to refresh an outdated system and refresh classroom teaching.
Working in the education setting can be a very stressful, time-consuming, deadline making with a huge load of paperwork, not to mention the deadly mention of Ofsted to put a shiver down any teachers spine. With all this going on we seem to lose track of whats really important. the children.
Assertive Mentoring is a program designed to raise underachieving schools to good and outstanding practices that reach children’s full potential very quickly and effectively, by using a system that gives children more responsibility for their own education and recognizing what they can do to achieve better goals to guide them to a better future.
this program is suited to all children from the high achievers, the behaviour problems and even children with special needs. It’s simple yet so innovating and improves all children’s learning whatever level they may be at.
Many schools across the country are adopting this method and most if not all have vastly improved in all aspects of learning and behaviour. Ofsted have also adopted this as a great technique for raising up schools performance for schools that may need help.
Assertive Mentoring frees up teachers and teaching assistants to concentrate on delivering lessons that children understand, engage with and most importantly achieve full potential.
I strongly recommend Assertive Mentoring for any school or education setting.
